About Clawflowers We created Clawflowers as a source of fresh, unusual and of high quality flowers. To that end, each week, we hand pick and transport our stock from the Flower District in New York City and from select wholesalers here on the east end of Long Island. It may be time consuming – and we certainly don’t always look forward to that 4 AM run into the city – but it’s the only way we can stand behind our product. And standing behind our product is important to us not only as shopkeepers, but because we live here too. In a small community like the North Fork, we constantly run into our customers in the supermarket, while walking our dog, or even at the landfill. It is always a relief to hear someone start by asking, “You know those flowers you sold me last week?” and ending with, “Well, they still look great!” We got a real kick out of hearing from a young man, who lives across the street, that he and his girlfriend refer to us as “Mushnik’s” - the flower shop in “Little Shop of Horrors.” We work hard to bring our customers flowers that are new and different. Sometimes it’s a common flower in an unusual color, like a deep magenta carnation; Sometimes it’s a unique item, like a She-Kong Haliconia. There is nothing wrong with a tall, bright sunflower or a colorful bunch of zinnias, but we want to introduce people to the wide range of possibilities in flowers and make them take a second look at a vase of flowers that can, all too often, be ignored. We bring this same approach to our arrangements and bouquets. Our goal is to produce botanical sculptures that are unique, fresh and beautiful. It’s a great feeling when, making a delivery, the recipient mutters “Thank you. It’s lovely.” Then takes a second look and says, “Wow! That’s gorgeous!” It’s as great a feeling to watch a guy who came in to buy his wife some roses leave with a big smile on his face because we showed him that the Kangaroo Paws he thought were cool would look good with the roses he picked out. Now he knows he is giving his wife something truly special. We get our deepest satisfaction from working with people, getting to know their favorite colors, the designs they like and figuring out what works in their home. It is our attention to the quality of our product and the satisfaction of our customers that makes us a satisfying florist. - Our cut flowers are sold by the stem, in bouquets, or in arrangements - - Delivery is available throughout the North Fork and on Shelter Island - - We specialize in small events of up to 60 guests. - - Our arrangements can be customized for your home or business. -
